    Steering knuckle numbers?

Can someone confirm that the steering knuckles on my friend's 1967 are correct. I can't find them in the AIM and vaguely remember reading here that the assembly was delivered "put together", thus no numbers. He has 3817594, right side, and 3817593 left side.

We are getting some rubbing of the right side steering knuckle "bump" (for lack of a more correct term) against the lower control arm. the paint has been rubbed off just in the 2-3 miles he has driven the car. The tie rod ends are in most aft hole, remembering that the front hole is for power steering.

    Thank you,
    Gary

    Re: Steering knuckle numbers?

    Hi Gary,

Those are not the numbers I have in my AIM UPC 3 Sheet A3 Item #5.

    My AIM shows:
#5 3899107 Strg. Knuckle & Frt. Wheel Hub Asm. L.H. and
3899108 Strg. Knuckle & Frt. Wheel Hub Asm. R.H.

I don't have a lookup for what the differences might be..., but that's what mine shows...thx, Mark
    thx,
    Mark

      Could you post a photo?

The CLOSEST my lower a-arm and steering knuckle get is 9/16".

      Dave

You are correct, A.I.M. part number is for the complete assembly.

Your 3817594 right side, and 3817593 left side, part numbers show up as original on eBay for sale listings.

        David,
I had used ebay but one post called the 7594 a right side and another post called it the left side. I was fairly comfortable with the orientation and remembering for GM that odd were left and even were right. I just wanted confirmation.

        Photos tomorrow.

        Thank you for the input

        Gary

You mean steering ARMS and not steering KNUCKLES. The steering kuckles are the same for either side. The steering arms are side specific and the same arms were used for the entire 1963-67 period. The 3817593 forging number was used for the left side and the 3817594 was used for the right side.

Nomenclature may not be my forte. I used this link to get the terminology.

            Thanks

ARM is included in that item description so it is correct. The part can be described as a steering arm or steering knuckle arm but definitely not a steering knuckle.

                Re: Steering knuckle numbers?

Thank you for clarifying. Like I said, nomenclature is not my strong suit. "Doohickey" works for me a lot of the time and then i wind up trying to describe said "doohickey".
