Re: water pump bolts
No harm done with your posts Keith, I am just glad to see so much interest in this subject. I had no idea this thread would take off like it did. I looked up those high collar split washers last night as per Jim's post, and I will will be getting some next week to put in my bolt collection. There has been a lot of good information and history coming out of this thread, thanks every one for your posts.- Top

Re: water pump bolts
I surveyed my original-engine cars this morning. All of them have lock washers under the water pump bolt heads. The vehicles are:
'63 w/300 HP engine
'60 w/290 HP engine
'57 210 passenger w/220 HP engine
The attached picture is of my '63.

Re: water pump bolts
It's been in the family for 50 years. The engine was unmolested when my Dad bought the car. I am the only person who has ever picked up a wrench to work on it.- Top

Jim,
I see you have the original pulley arrangement but what's the extra inboard belt used for.- Top

Re: water pump bolts
There is no idler pulley. The belt wraps around only the WP pulley and the crank pulley.- Top

Re: water pump bolts
Joe,
No way for me to know for certain as I haven't owned the car since new, although there is no casting date on the casing so I'm guessing not. I had the water pump off in May of 2019 to rebuild and was put back on the engine with the hardware that came off.Attached FilesLeif
