    Oct 1953 - WVa

I've run across some correspondence indicating that ZAD and Mauri Rose were taking 1953 #s 1 and 5 to White Sulphur Springs WV
on Oct 9-10-11, 1953. Anybody know what was going on in the "Springs"?

the famous Greenbrier Hotel in white sulfur springs W Va is probably zora and mauri's destination. its a luxurious place. it housed a secret bunker under the main building for the swamp creatures of washington DC in the event of a nuclear war back in the post WW2 era. nowadays its also a site for auto concourse events. Well worth seeing if you ever get a chance. Was owned by the B&O railroad years ago, now i think its owned by the current governor of W Va. mike mccagh

Met 3 time Indy Winner Mauri Rose after his retirement from Chevrolet. He was working part time for a real good friend of mine restoring classic cars. Mauri did not have a very high opinion of the early Corvette or ZAD. I doubt they spent much time together. Mauri along with several others have never been given much credit for the development of the early Corvette program. Even Noland A. failed to recognize him in a photo on page 112 of Noland,s 1956 Corvette Legend book #3 (unforgivable). Mauri can be seen in numerous early Corvette publicity photos taken in front of his house. Most notable: Ed Cole put Mauri in charge of the entire 1956 Racing program most often credited to ZAD. From here the real story began ----.

Just to advise - I have an e-mail in with the Greenbrier and a letter on the way to the Public Library at White Sulphur Springs. If it turns out that ZAD and Mauri were going to an SAE beer bust, we'll have a story.............
