Re: S/S ignition shielding question
I'm responding as a 1963 guy. There are two shields. One over the spark plug and one over that for radio noise suppression. Which one?
On my 63's I have magnetic on the right side (steel) and stainless on the left side. These are for the radio noise suppression.

Re: S/S ignition shielding question
Francis
There are at least a dozen stainless steel grades that are strongly ferro-magnetic -- one of which is 430. The olde' if it's non-magnetic = stainless is a fable.
LH horizontal front & rear pieces AND the 'skirt' section of distributor cover are indeed stainless & in 430. Note, however, that the 'top' section of an original distributor cover is non-magnetic grade 304 stainless. ALL other components (i.e. RH horizontal, both verticals, both 'boomerangs') are of low carbon/mild steel construction with a cheapo plating.
Response is for original stuff, not reproductions.- Top
