    Alternator & A.I.R. Brackets on a 1970 LT!

I am putting the front end of the engine accessories on my 1970 LT1. The alternator has a lower bracket that bolts to the stud that goes through the top right water pump hole (facing the engine) and also into the exhaust manifold, then there is the long curved bracket that mounts to the top of the alternator, then the smaller bracket that has the slight off-set to mount the A.I.R. pump. All of these go on the stud that bolts into the upper water pump hole in some way.

My question is the order that these all go in to the stud. Does the lower bracket sit up against the water pump, then the stud goes in, or does the lower bracket AND then the long curved upper bracket go on first then the stud through both of those then the A.I.R. pump bracket on laying against the bolt that is part of the stud in the middle?

From the Tech. Information and judging guide. Fig. 12.19, it looks like the lower bracket AND the longer curved alternator bracket might go behind the stud, but I am wondering if the threaded part of the stud will be too short if two brackets are put against the water pump first?

The assembly manual was not that clear to me either on the order of it all.

Any assistance or pictures would be a big help.

    Thanks

    Jim

The installation and configuration of the components you described is exactly the same as 1968-69 with 300 or 350 HP.

This sheet from the 1969 AIM shows the installation a little better than that shown in the 1970 AIM for the LT-1. Not a lot better but a little better.

Using this diagram it should be easy to do the installation---far easier than any text explanation or photos.
