63 AFB Carb fuel line leak

I removed the AFB carb on my 327/300. The hard fuel line set is leaking even when tightened fully. Previously was not leaking.

The 45 degree fitting that threads into the carb body does not get tight at the correct angle relative to the line fitting coming from the fuel filter. Its all rigid, and doesn't allow adjustment.

The fuel was spraying from the line fitting to 45 degree fitting connection and after a lot of torque, now just dribbles, though fairly briskly. May also be leaking at the 45 to carb body fitting.
Its kind of an erector set.

    Any tips or thoughts?

As Joseph noted above I install everything loose and then tighten. Once you have them all tight loosen one at a time and tighten again. If you have correct steel lines they should seal easily I you have stainless they are much more difficult to get a seal.

I concur that install everything loosely at first to be sure all the fittings are aligned and not cross threaded. By your statement above, it sounds like you may have cross threaded the fitting and over tightened and now may have a messed up fitting that will never seal properly. Just a thought.

Loosening up everything and retightening did the trick. The flare to 45 degree fitting connection was the problem one, and it took some jimmying of the line as I tightened to get the flare to seal properly.Fortunately, I had not cross threaded the fittings. I've done this before on brake lines, and it is very easy to do. I always try to finger tight the connections several turns to be sure there is no cross threading before I put the wrench to it. That isn't always possible when the fittings are tight.

            Thanks for the advice.
