    C2 Fuel Filler Boot Replacement

I need to replace the fuel filler boot without dropping the tank. Is there a secret to doing it correctly?

Nothing to it! A new one will stretch over the end easily. Don't forget the drain nipple and hose.

I changed out the one on my '72 recently. The hardest part was getting the old one off as the rubber had gotten quite stiff and unyielding; I ended up resorting to using a box cutter to slice the old one off. Make sure you save the old drain nipple from the boot for use in the new one.

JR, do I need to get a new nipple and hose as well as the boot or can I use the present one?

David, the nipples and hoses are available but the old ones should be fine.

PS. don't try to pull the hose out as it is tied to the bumper on the lower end. You can remove the tie before you start and it will free up the hose when removing the boot.

The worst part of this job is getting the renforcing spring inside the new hose. Soak the hose in hot water for a while and then twist it in.
