Vehicle Material Control Department? re:Special Ordering -color
New one for me... 1971 coupe #11130
I was going through some of the letters back and forth between original purchaser and a Mr W. R. Aglietti - Single Car Deliveries, General Motors Overseas Distribution- 727 5th Ave New York NY
The first reply dated - Sept 10 1970 - Mr Aglietti referenced checking with the Vehicle Material Control Department?
Was this a specific department at St Louis assembly? OR just a reference to the plant having the requested color paint on hand?
further down Mr Aglietti goes on to state the request is sent to the plant on a BID basis...
As an aside: despite more than one request, Mr Aglietti did not commit to ANY Special Paint Price until a letter Jan 28 1971 - in which he stated the base car price was +$250.00 and Special Paint was an additional $83.00 because it was done on special request.
