    C3 Auxiliary Hardtop Question

Was the rear glass and stainless steel molding installed before or after the top was painted? I am not sure, but I think the glass was installed before paint and therefore there may be evidence of paint on the sealant between the molding and the top. Any ideas?

    Thanks, Bob

    Re: C3 Auxiliary Hardtop Question

    Hi Bob,

Having spent time in numerous automotive assembly paint booths (not GM) I can think of no plausible reason why there would be any trim or glass at all in place prior to painting any part. It would essentially amount to "triple-work" - first, install parts that you don't want to have any paint on (glass/gaskets/trim) - then have to mask them in some way to prevent getting painted - then have to remove the masking (whatever form it takes). I doubt GM wanted to do all that extra work because it costs more and doesn't provide any production advantage as far as I can envision. Just my opinion, though...thx, Mark

Here is a C2 on the line with it's hardtop. I don't see anything but the fiberglass.
