Who makes the best, softest indoor car cover?

Hello again Forum. I have a 4 post lift coming and soon one Corvette will be below the other. Because all cars leak something at some time, I am going into this knowing that the car on top will eventually drip on the car below ( and yes, my lift comes with drip trays which I do not trust completely because the drip trays aren't one contiguous piece ).

Therefore, my plan (unless you guys can change my mind) is to park one Corvette on the bottom and cover it with a super soft indoor car cover and then on top of the indoor car cover I'll drape the car with a thick sheet of plastic to prevent any drips from penetrating through to the car cover and car.

I've seen guys do it this way and pulling off the plastic is easy and quick, and removing the car cover isn't too bad either. So, this "plan" shouldn't prevent me from driving either car. I just need to know who makes the best and softest indoor car cover?

There's several online claiming to be awesome, but I'd like to know which one(s) are you happy with and where do I get it?

    Thanks.

    Brian

Premium Flannel from Top Flight Reproductions. I have had these on 6 cars.

I would never put plastic over a car, especially if it has nice paint.
Plastic will not allow moisture to breathe out of the car cover. That is why they use plastic as a vapor barrier.
Why not get a continuous pan made up? Or rivet/weld/fasten the pans together to make a continuous pan. The pans are relatively inexpensive.
I have a Ferrari on top of my lift, which leaks and If you put the pans where they need to be, it isn't a problem.

By the way, I agree with Thomas, never use plastic to cover a nice painted car.
          Install drip pans.
I have 10 cars stored that way.

I have a nice Wolf cover for my 63, mirror pocket, pre-reinforced antenna hole and light, breathable material. I've used it twice in 7 years when I was painting nearby; the cover came with the car. Not a fan of covers.

The more you drag stuff across your paint the more you're asking for trouble IMO. And if anything caustic drips off the top car (DOT 3 brake fluid) a cover wont matter. I have 3 large aluminum drip trays on my lift, two under the length of the engine and another under the differential and haven't had "drip-down" in nearly a decade. These are placed where the potential leak points are; if you're worried about a couple being non-contiguous just take some rubber fuel line or the like and put it along the upper edge of the vertical lips where two meet.

My vote, the only thing I did not like was cutting the antenna hole. If they can make a great fitting cover, cut the hole.

I have Lingenfelter covers for my corvettes. really smooth. I hang a blue tarp under the midyear by attaching to the four wheels. It is 2 post lift and the tarp drops down around a foot in the center.

Bill, your post, along with the others above suggesting NOT to put plastic on the car cover, gave me an idea: cover the car on the bottom with a car cover (I'm fully aware of the detriments to paint from car covers) and instead of putting a sheet of plastic directly onto the car cover that is covering the car below, perhaps I could fasten the 4 corners of the plastic sheet to the columns of the 4 post lift. This way the plastic wouldn't trap any moisture and would still catch any drips from the car above.

So, perhaps I started this thread with the wrong question... Perhaps I should have started the thread with the question: While using a storage lift how do I keep the car below from getting dripped on? Keep in mind, I don't 100% trust drips NOT to find the cracks between the drip trays.

I just had another idea... Why not put something on the runways of the lift, like a long sheet of vinyl or something impermeable that would catch drips from the car above and would also be held in place by the weight of the car above?

I'm not the first person trying to figure this out. Lots of smarter folks have figured out how to protect the car on the bottom. How do you guys do it?

Yes, I know, the best solution is a larger garage/shop/building. Soon.

Thanks guys for sharing your experience and knowledge. Please keep the ideas coming.

Thomas, I like this idea - one long continuous full-length pan. Thanks!

i should have clarified the 67 is on top, wheels in the air. The blue tarp is above the 2015 or the 65 with the tarp atached to the 4 wheels above with at least a foot between the tarp and the roof of the car below.

What you could do is hammer the flanges flat, add a bead of silicone and rivet them together. Buy enough pans to cover the entire length. if you have the center jack supports, move those to the ends and put your pans between them. If you wanted, you could then line them with poly as another barrier. I also like the idea of taking rubber hose, slitting it and fasten the pans together. The pans I have have kind of a z on the lips, so I'm not sure if there is enough to grab onto with the hose. Just thinking out loud.

I agree I would not put a plastic cover directly on the car, even with a cover on it. I would put the plastic sheet on the trays and ramps above as you mentioned and you should be fine. As for the cover, I just ordered a Black Satin indoor car cover for my 70 conv GTO from Car Covers.com and its a nice cover. I would order one for the vette but I don't have anything parked over it and I have the car in a car capsule which provides a dust free environment to store it. http://carcapsule.com/
