Tank Sheet -final line item - 099908 8 CYL CONDT

I was reading through my copy of "The Best of Vette Views Volume 1-9" and saw something on the Hechler ZL1 tank sheet which I was wondering the meaning?

    099908 8 CYLINDER CONDT.

I don't remember, which doesn't help you. But I do remember discussion here a few years ago. So a search may answer your question.

      Found this...........

      8 Cylinder Conditioning.

It was basically the equivalent of "dealer prep" when the car wasn't originally delivered to a dealer.

I searched and got 32 pages of threads, I went through almost 18 pages then figured I would ask the question...
This is not some kind of random inquiry... I encountered this when going over about 7-8 cars earlier this summer... one of the cars, a 67 L68 roadster had this line item... I kept thinking I had seen it in the past...
It wasn't until I re-read the Hechler ZL1 article in the old VETTE VUES in the last few days that I realized where I previously encountered it.
Here is the Marlboro Maroon over White L68 roadster sheet.

If memory serves, John Hinckley stated that 8 cylinder conditioning was an accounting code for a car not delivered to a dealer. I've also heard it means the motor received special treatment during assembly. I would guess that John is correct.

Interesting it also has "SEQ N9(?)R 41 H 17" on the last line after "MOTORS"
            wonder what that means?
            does H 17 imply March 17, 1967?
The Expected Date of Production box at the top starts with "03-1????"
            thx,
            Mark

You are correct Steve, and from memory it meant that the motor was essentially "blueprinted" from the factory so to speak.

I believe the character between N and R is "B" NBR - number - making the abbreviation. "SEQ NBR"

                "SEQ N(B)R 41-H 17"

The date on my photo has a (7) on the other side of the ripped area, and because there is no 0 in front of the one the date has to fall in the 11-19 range with the 7 on the tail it is apparently 67.

The POP shows Salyer Motors Inc as the selling dealer, Kinsley Kansas

James - "NBR" makes sense to me. So perhaps it was JOB number 41 scheduled for (or actually produced) on March 17, 1967 ?
                  thx,

Could it also mean that the special engine did not go down the normal engine line but was built off line and dropped in at the right moment ?

What we are missing is the word "Tag" on the bottom of the tank sticker. Tag means it was ordered for a particular person, in this case Dr. Palmer Salye??. This is only done when someone who work directly for GM (not in a dealership, or supplier), they get a special pin number and discount on the order. You could pass the pin number to your immediate family member, usually you get two pin number per model year. In the past I have done many of these orders for customers. I believe the SEQ NBR is for accounting.

My tank sticker says "SEQ F 25" at the bottom right below "Tinted Glass" and I would love to know what it means. I've asked on this and other forums and nobody has ever been able to tell me.

                        Anyone?
