1967 L36 Coupe Correct Ride Height?

    Hey Forum,

I just recently purchased a 1967 L36 Coupe whose front coil suspension springs need replaced and/or the rear leaf springs need to be re-arched.

I've also recently purchased and am waiting to receive several books / manuals such as a 1967 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual, Assembly Instructions Manual, NCRS tech judging manual, Van Steel suspension DVD. While none of these books / DVDs have arrived yet, I am hoping that somewhere in one of these books there will plenty of reference (or a range) as to the correct ride for my new old car. I plan to have the car judged after we go through it and get it ready.

My car 427 / 390 HP was not born with AC so that helps with spring number identification. I think the correct coil springs are 3888250.

Can anyone confirm that at least one of the aforementioned books will help me to learn how my car should sit after we go through the suspension?

    Any advise?

    Thanks.
    Brian

    Brian,

What's wrong with how the car sits now?
Any photos of it that you can post?
Have any of the springs been replaced?

Note that in general, reproduction springs will not help with ride height, unless you want to look like a jacked-up 4x4 truck.

      Brian,

Based on where it looks like you are going with this, your '67 AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) will give you the dimensions you're looking for.

Front Trim heights are provided on sheet A6 of UPC* 3
Rear Trim heights are provided on sheet B5 of UPC* 4
      *Uniform Parts Classification

Those sheets also define the different trim heights based on the options you car might have.
      good luck - Mark
      thx,
      Mark

          That's not the typical story.
