    Scammers Are At It Again

    NCRS Members,

Over the past week scammers purporting to be me, the Chairman of the Southern California Chapter, and the Chair of the Northern California Chapter, have sent emails to NCRS members requesting that they purchase gift cards for some sort of charitable organization. The story is pretty much the same with these scams, the sender is out of town and needs the recipient to act quickly to purchase these gift cards on the senders behalf, with reimbursement to follow shortly. Just delete these emails.

My guess is that other NCRS Chapters are being similarly victimized. Please be alert and delete these solicitations when you receive them.

    Stay safe.

I get these on a semi-regular basis allegedly from our Chapter Chairman.
The return email address is always a spam email.

The Kansas City Chapter is getting the same messages. It seems like after we send out a Blast announcing an upcoming event or get together. Usually it targets the officers and other key board members.

I believe the NCRS website is open. Meaning, non-NCRS members can look at (CONTACTS) the board and obtain email addresses and phone numbers. Lets limit that information to members that are logged on. If a non-NCRS member wants to send an email to me, allow him to do that but hide the email address and send it secured through the system.

          HI Mike,

I got one of these impersonating my parish monsignor. I called the office and found out it was a scam also. It is a shame because some older people will be duped.

I just received a publication from the Cadillac & LaSalle Club in which the president makes about the same statement that Mike I has above. It seems like an epidemic.

I also receive these scam e-mails under our “alleged” chairperson. Upon investigating with the Oakland County Sheriff, it was learned that these are coming from somebody in Nigeria. Unfortunately, since they are coming from outside our county (and country) there’s nothing that the Oakland County Sheriff’s Team can be done to stop them from ”continuously” being sent.

I have a contact in Nigeria - Prince no less. We're currently working on a deal for gold bars that they need to get out of their country. They trust me, so I'll see what the Prince can do to get you some scammer relief.

                    Rich,
Some email systems will route emails to the spam folder if one email has been sent to the spam folder. So if you sent one email from NCRS to the spam folder by mistake all the others from that same address will follow. Clear all the NCRS messages from your spam folder and see if your problem goes away.

                    As usual with computers YMMV.

                        Rich,

Drag/Move the NCRS emails from your SPAM folder into your Inbox. The next NCRS email should then go into your Inbox.

Next step is to log into your webmail account and move any NCRS emails to the webmail Inbox folder.

Some email accounts will direct your CONTACTS to the Inbox... have you tried adding NCRS to a contact list?
Other accounts allow you to setup FILTERS or WHITELISTS... directing any email from 'ncrs.org', to your Inbox.
Check the help menu, or look into your email preferences... hope that helpz.
