    C60 A6 Compressor identification ?

A friend had this stashed away for a very long time in NY. He was going to toss it and said I might need it some day so he made me take it when we went on a road trip several years ago.

    What do I have here?

    Cast 6556302 Date A 3 7 (1967 or 1977 ?)

    Label:
    Code 072071
    Model 5910670
    F85 Delmont 350 (Passenger car?)

    Richard,
The casting number and dates and appearance look identical to my '67 A6 compressor. The label isn't from a Corvette, however. Casting number is correct for a '67, cast date of January 3, 1967 and assembly date of July 20, 1967 1st shift. See my pics for comparison.

Very late 1967 or early 1968 model Oldsmobile: Delmont or F85.........passenger car. Has small diameter front pulley.

PS: Will fit and work for many many GM (and other) cars in 1960-1970's time period. Just Google the part number to see the listing.

Interesting side note. Cast date on your compressor, Rich, is Jan 3 and assembly date is July 20. If this were to be reconfigured with the correct pulley it would be exactly the same as the one used in a '67 Corvette. The dating of casting and assembly would fall outside of the 6 month window considered to be correct for NCRS judging purposes...or, would it. What does NCRS look at for the 6 month window...casting date or assembly date? Our good friend Dom could take care of both the pulley and label during restoration

I would date the compressor label sometime in March or April.

The date shown on the compressor end plate is just that: the casting date for the end plate. Other compressor parts are each different dates....but not all have the date shown. For all we know, the end plate itself may have been replaced on this compressor due to some issue in the past.
