    1966 Body Lift

I am planning on a body lift on a '66 BB convertible air car. My past body lifts have been on lower option (weight) cars with interiors stripped. I have removed the seats, weight on ends of the body (rad support, headlight motors) but wanted to keep the interior disassembly to a minimum.
I use a 2 post lift supporting the body from the edge of the rocker U channel with a 2x6 bolted to the lift. I feel I will be OK but has anyone had experience lifting a C2 convertible body with the interior and most of the firewall equipment (power brake) intact?
    Thanks- Joe

Body lift 2.jpgHere is my 63 on a 2 post lift. The interior is assembled and the radiator support is on the body.

      Joe,
I dropped my roadster body back on the frame With a 2 post lift a few months ago with everything in the car except the front seats. No issues at all.
also makes working by yourself very easy.

I also did a 1966 Roadster by myself with a two post lift late last year. I used a MaxJax setup and it was much simpler than I could have imagined. I was going to use a 6x6 setup similar to what you're describing, but I didn't feel comfortable the car wouldn't slip so I just used U-shaped lift shoes (they have an upturned lip on the edges). I had to offset both my lift arms forward in order to get the widest support, but with the body being so light, is wasn't a big deal. My cage was in solid shape, the interior was 90% installed (no seats), and it worked great.

Thanks for the pictures-body lifted this morning without issues. I think in the future I will jettison the wooden lifting beam and go directly with the pads as you guys have

            Joe,
Just out of curiosity...why the body lift? Chassis looks pretty sanitary.

Car was Bloomington Gold certified (inspected by Gary Nabers) about 20 years ago. Just cannot stand rust and with the AC, BB, Pwr steer/brakes underhood couldn't clean up much properly. Not much difference for me to pull it off the frame as opposed to pulling the engine and trans. and it is easier to work on (the AC needed some work). Cheaper than buying a new project unless you know of an L84 C2 that needs restoring for sale.
              Thanks Joe
