Having more and more difficulty with my left leg and the clutch pedal on my 62 Just replaced the steering wheel with the 15" Ecklers model and that helped. Now thinking of extending the clutch pedal an inch or so to the left, not bending the arm, but attaching an extension to the pad. Crazy idea? I NEED to keep driving it.

Re: Modifying the C1 clutch pedal
I'm not quite understanding what physical difficulty you're having where that idea would help.
Moving the pedal to the left without changing any other geometry means you're still working the clutch bellcrank and the "gorilla" spring ?- Top

Re: Modifying the C1 clutch pedal
It's the flexibility of my left side. Moving my left foot to the right, with my thigh hitting the steering wheel is the problem. If the clutch pedal was 1 inch more to the left, I could easily reach it. I can figure out a way to "extend" the pedal more to the left. Just wondering if anyone else has faced this problem.- Top

Re: Modifying the C1 clutch pedal
Richard,
You may need to experiment a bit, but doing what you describe should be straight forward.
One idea: Cut off the brake pedal platform from a donor passenger car with power brakes and braze or spot weld it over your clutch pedal in a position that works for you. Then install the rubber pad designed for the power brake platform used. I suggest a PB platform because they are often a wider pedal which may give the extension to the left you seek.
With careful placement of welding blankets this could be done without removing your clutch pedal.Mark Edmondson

Re: Modifying the C1 clutch pedal
THat's what I was thinking, but it does place the pedal lever higher. Not good,- Top

Re: Modifying the C1 clutch pedal
If you don't want the pedal higher, you can cut off the original platform and add the wider PB pedal. Unlike the first mod, this would be more involved to add and restore back to stock (if that's a consideration).
EDIT: The first option shouldn't raise pedal height more than 3/8" - 1/2".Mark Edmondson
