My 1971 Corvette Order Copy (Tank Sticker) - Questions

    Friends (Tom McGowan - #24409):

My order copy has the following option numbers, but I cannot find anything pertinent in deciphering them. A small piece of the tank sticker is missing for the description of those items, but the option numbers are very clear. Can you help, please:

    1ZK8AP

1VZP2AA - This is hand written on the Order Copy / Tank Sticker and states, "Trim & Color Override" "RN6763 and then someone's initials". I've seen a lot of tank stickers, but this one was modified by someone at the factory. The trim tab matches perfectly.

(On the tank sticker the car was supposed to be Warbonnet Yellow and was lined out in pencil and Steel Cities Gray was written in; 988 instead of 989. In addition, Black Vinyl Interior was lined out in pencil and this was added in print, "1V407AR - Red Vinyl Interior".

I've attached a picture of the tank sticker to this post.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Regards, Tom 928.301.5081

    Friends,

I was able to look at a similar thread about the tank sticker from someone who asked a question about the 1972. I identified from his build sheet that option 1ZK8AP references a "Tire Pressure Sticker". That was helpful.......

1ZK8AP is the tire pressure sticker. Looks like your car was changed from one recommended color set to another after ordering.

Here is what my trim and color override looks like for a non-recommended color set (also 71).

Looking more closely our cars are fairly close in build date -- yours is nearly the end of production. I wonder if at the end of the year if there were more willing to build odd-balls?

It's certainly possible, William. My car was built on July 6th, which as you say was around 800 cars before the last one rolled out near the end of July. All the best, Tom

Thanks for responding, Mike. Yes, I have had many Corvettes and I love doing the investigative work and in the end having all of the documentation about the car is quite gratifying, as we all know. I may target an LT1, but right now I'm just waiting for my 2021 Convertible to be delivered (museum delivery). All the best, Tom
