I have found that the adhesive used on reproduction labels is nowhere near as durable as originals. Unless something has changed, the reproduction labels will start lifting after a relatively short time in the engine compartment. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Even if the reproductions were exactly the same as originals with respect to color and script, what good when they be if the adhesive will cause them to lift after a short time in the engine compartment? In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

It's been a long time since I purchased any reproduction engine labels. I do recall that the colors and script were quite authentic with only minor deviations from original labels. In other words, they could be discerned from originals but 99.9% of the folks looking at them would not know the difference. I recall that I was generally pleased with them AT FIRST. However, after they started to lift after a relatively short time in the engine compartment I ceased being pleased with them. Original GM labels did not lift even after extended periods of time. In fact, when the script becomes deteriorated causing one to want to replace them, they are quite difficult to remove.
As far as NOS goes, I don't know where one could find them. Way back when, some Chevrolet dealers had them for sale but, as far as I know, they did not have part numbers and I do not know through what channels they obtained them.
Addendum-----just to be clear about something: the engine labels did have part numbers. However, they rarely had SERVICE part numbers. This means they were used in PRODUCTION but were generally not available in SERVICE. Other types of labels such as warning labels, information labels, etc. often did have SERVICE available part numbers.Last edited by Joe L.; September 3, 2020, 11:08 AM.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: air cleaner decal
I pretty much spent a lot of time as a youth in a Chevrolet dealership as my dad was a salesman. However, I remember back in the early to mid-1970s trying to order Air cleaner decals and I was told that they were not available, nor have I ever seen them advertised."SOLID LIFTERS MATTER"- Top

Re: air cleaner decal
thanks for the reply , i have seen some on eBay listed as nos , they claim to have bought out a automotive sticker company. these do not say printed in usa on them in the lower right corner. repos do. i saw a picture of supposed original in an old vette vues book that does not have printed in usa on it. so i would like to know if originals have this or not. thanks again- Top
