1970 LT1 Engine / Motor Mount Finish

Can anyone tell me if the engine / motor mounts on a 1970 were painted at all (maybe they were on the engine during the engine paint process) or were these a natural metal finish, with smears of the rubber compound on some of the natural metal?

The motor mounts were installed at St. Louis and, thus, can have no engine paint on them. The steel components of the mounts were natural steel and, yes, there may be some rubber "smears" found on portions of the mounts.

Here are photos of an NOS GM #3980701 [not for sale], the actual motor mount used for 1970 Corvettes. Note that the rear of the mount does appear to have been coated in some way. Of course, this surface cannot be seen with the mount installed on the engine.
