picked up a nice original frame today but the clips are broken that hold the license plate. Is there a source for the clips and rivet to fix them?

Re: 63-67 License Frame restoration
Keith, I am currently straightening, de-dinging, and polishing an original for a customer. I also have a few repros around the shop. I'm sure you know the originals are magnetic stainless and the repros are not. Some original clips have a patent number stamped on them. However, when installed you cannot see the clips anyways. The clips on the repros are fairly close in configuration (the rivets are not). Suggest you get a repro (they are pretty cheap) and remove the clips to use on your original. The correct rivet is a semi-tubular button head stainless. Unfortunately I do not know where to get replacement clips or new correct rivets for these. But I don't think the rivets should be that hard to find from the usual hardware suppliers like McMaster Carr. If you like I can take and send a few pix of the rivets and clips.- Top

Re: 63-67 License Frame restoration
Hi Keith- I bought a couple of these over the parts counter back in the day- but I can't remember for sure what year it was. I bought a new 69,and I think I bought them for that car, but I could have bought them for my 63,that I bought used in 67.
These are magnetic stainless, and have the patent # (3314181) on the clips.
My question is: The post indicates these were for 63-67; (C2), and I wonder what year/s these would be appropriate for?
(If the car was not being judged,of course)
Thanks-E.J.IMG_20200920_143949393.jpgIMG_20200920_144008806 (1).jpgIMG_20200920_152158293.jpg- Top
