    C6 Judging information

While to my knowledge no time schedule for producing a C6 Judging Manual is available, some work is beginning. Pete Bergman has started accumulating information.

Based on posts in another thread here some of us who saved our original oil filters.

    Harry S https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...844#post877844

    and Don L https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...900#post877900

And myself have offered this information.

Regarding oil filters Pete has asked for color pictures with a ruler so size can be identified Pictures showing the top, bottom, and paper label will be helpful. The Corvette style, engine, and time of build will also be necessary. Pete can be reached through the member contacts drop down at the top of the page. At the moment he is in and out of Internet service so give him some time for a response.

This will provide Pete with the contact information for a list of C6 original owners he can call on as other parts of the C6 manual(s) progress. We have the opportunity to make the C6 manual(s) the best out there, so lets line up to help.

I still have my original oil filter from my 2013 Grand Sport built September 5, 2012. I can supply pictures if needed.

        Dave
Your point(s) are well taken, but the C6 years are a long way from judging any cars. Remember we are producing a Technical Information Manual as well as a Judging Guide. I no longer judge Chassis on C3, so I don't ever expect to judge Chassis on C6s, but I do feel an obligation to provide as much accurate technical information as I can. We are fortunate in that many of us who have been in NCRS had the foresight to save the original components from our C6s. I started this thread with oil filters because that was the topic of a C3 thread that some of us dragged off topic.

I have the original dated air filter for my C6 also, and I expect other will have that item for their car also.

I have a box full of factory items from the build of my car and I have scanned those and sent them to Tom Russo, because those items are his specialty. When we get to judging C6s One of our (and I mean that in the more universal sense of the word) challenges will be to overcome some of the physical obstacles you have mentioned -- and probably some others. Only when we get closer to that time will we know if we can develop some "tricks" to enable us to do a credible job. In the mean time gathering and cataloging the information ought to proceed (IMO).

I can remember, not so long ago, when the judging of C4s was regarded with the same skepticism as you have voiced. I think NCRS is doing a credible job with C4s and the rest will follow in a similar fashion. It is simply a matter of training the folks who are to be judges and developing the techniques necessary to accomplish that. We can do it.

          Re: C6 Judging information

I have taken to using WiFi endoscopes when working on cars and I need to see in small places. These connect to my iPad(s) via wifi, and can work extremely well. In a similar manner, there is a new EXCELLENT rifle borescope that connects to my reloading room computer via USB that is all of $50.

I suspect that technology is quickly catching up to and surpassing our need to see into small places on the newer cars.

              Hello all!
We've been on the road for the last 7 weeks and 2/3 the time no internet connection. It's still spotty at best.

When I return to Arizona in a week or so I'll reach out as I am working on gathering data.

In the meantime my email address is

              c6team0513@gmail.com

I will need assistance in this endeavor and down the road would like to see cars and eventually will need to build a judging team.

              Thanks for the responses!!

I no longer own a C1 or C2 Corvette. For the first time in many-many years, I am without a C2 (or C!), but I will tell you guys I love my C3-C8 cars!
If I can help with any C6 information please let me know.

Interesting.... 10 years ago I started a thread in preparation for future C6 judging and to keep a digital record of some build oddities on my '07 coupe.Where does the time go?

And here's another regarding the engine stamp pad vin location. Note there will be no way to see it unless a borescope/camera is used. Also that it can either be laser etched or stamped according to the CSM.

I am the original owner of an '09 Velocity Yellow Corvette Z06 (3LZ) with 16,500 miles on it, and it is stored in my heated garage. I put about 14,000 miles on it during NCRS road tours (Charlotte, Novi & San Diego), and I've shown it in both the NCRS Gallery and Chip's Choice at Corvettes at Carlisle. I do not have the original filters from the car as it has been serviced only by a Chevrolet dealer. The tires and the battery are not original, but they are OEM replacements. I would be happy to contribute to the judging manual development when it begins in earnest.

Same here. I have a black with black interior 2008 Z06 (2LZ), chrome wheels option with 16,2xx miles which I did road tours in 2013 and 2015. I have all the original filters, window sticker, factory interior tags, rear storage area shade still in the plastic bag, etc. and would also be more than happy to contribute and help with the C6 judging manual.
