MEK or paint stripper may work. Also lots of laquer thinner might do the trick

      Stephen,
thanks for the info. Will try both and hopefully I can restore without having to paint.

Bair's sells new ones. They won't have the part number but are new and plated. Only 30 bucks each.

          Stephen,
I used paint stripper and the shields turned out like new. Can even see the part number. Thanks for the tip.

              Stephen,
Looks like when the car was new they added textured undercoating to the floor boards. I am not going to try and remove that but instead clean and touch up. I plan on using a flat black. What are your thoughts of a water based or oil based flat black?

I would use only an oil-based paint.

I think you'll find that things won't match if you just touch up..... If using a rattle can I'd use Krylon flat black. If you are going to spray cover the car completely with a sheet or blanket. It's eye opening where over spray can migrate to........

                    Thanks Joe. Why oil based?

I consider it much more durable and it's the only type of paint ever originally used on a C2 or C3 Corvette.

Thanks Stephen. Agree with the cover to protect against over spray.
