Per the parts book, firewall insulation was the same for 58-62 cars with automatic transmissions and those with manuals despite the need for a hole for the clutch rod in manual transmission cars. I'd like to know if the driver side piece arrived at the factory with the hole already in it and therefore you would see it in those cars with automatics or was there no hole and it was drilled at the same time as the hole was drilled in the actual firewall for manual transmission cars. I think the hole was made at the factory, but can anyone confirm one way or the other? Does anyone have a 58-62 automatic car with the original firewall insulation or have pictures? Thank you!
