Can someone tell or show me the size of the two bolts that go through the shifter mounting bracket that thread into the frame. Can you also tell me the correct bolt head marking. I know the bolt has a flange and uses a lock washer.

Re: 1966 Shifter Mounting Bracket Bolts
Michael------
The GM #9419402 bolts were flanged head, 5/16-18 X 3/4", self-tapping, phosphate-finished, and of GM 260-M material grade (no lines). I don't know the manufacturer's headmarking----there were likely many. Discontinued from SERVICE in December, 1985.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1966 Shifter Mounting Bracket Bolts
Joe, thank you. That is the part number I have (#9419402) for the bolt. I did not have the 5/16-18 X 3/4" size. Tom do you have the headmarking on the bolt pictured? The bolts I have show a large "M" with no lines as Joe said. I have a lot of bolts with the "M" headmarking, but the bolts I have I never saw that type of "M".- Top

Re: 1966 Shifter Mounting Bracket Bolts
Michael - If you email me the picture of the bulkhead with the different configuration M, I could possibly tell you who the manufacture was as I have a list of all the hardware suppliers to General Motors of the 60s and 70s. My email is:RgodutiLT1@yahoo.com."SOLID LIFTERS MATTER"- Top

Re: 1966 Shifter Mounting Bracket Bolts
In my massive library of pictures I found these. The first picture with the M bolts is on a restored car. Two are well known low mile Bowtie cars. I have 66 & 67 pictures and show same type bolts. No headmark seems most common.Avatar--My first ever vette, owned 3X since 1977, restored 1993-2024. Top Flight Award 9/14/24- Top

Re: 1966 Shifter Mounting Bracket Bolts
Gary, thank you for the pictures. It looks like the "M" I have on my bolt. I tried to post a picture of my bolt, but when I went to manage attachments it would not let me in to browse. So I sent a picture to Ron's email.- Top

Re: 1966 Shifter Mounting Bracket Bolts
Michael,
yes I did and I responded via your email address. It looks like that bolt was produced from the Vulcan Rivet and Bolt corporation from Michigan. I do not know if they are still in business."SOLID LIFTERS MATTER"- Top

IMG_1653.jpgThis is the bolt 5/16-18 x 3/4" headmark "M" I have for the shifter mounting bracket that threads into the frame. Like I said in my previous post I have a lot of "M" headmark bolts, but none that look like this. Does this headmark look familiar to anyone.- Top

Michael------
I believe this manufacturer's identification mark denotes Michigan Screw and Bolt. This company was a major supplier to GM and many of the original fasteners found on Corvettes and other GM cars have this "M" headmarking. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1966 Shifter Mounting Bracket Bolts
Joe & Michael,
yes I agree with Joe that is also another possibility. However, when I look at all the suppliers the one that I picked out Vulcan Rivet and Bolt corporation manufactured a bolt with a recessed hex head and flange with the bolt logo as him which looks exactly like the one Michael was posting."SOLID LIFTERS MATTER"- Top

I am trying to find another bolt just like the one in the picture. Does anyone have a extra bolt like this that they are not using? Thank you for your help.- Top
