1972 horn disassembly/clean/paint?

What sort of issues might I encounter if I disassemble the two halves for cleaning and repainting? I believe there's a tone adjustment screw; how would I correctly adjust that? Is there any danger of damaging the internal components? Are there any internal components that shouldn't get wet?

Relying on memory (my new disclaimer) but I think there was a Restorer article many years ago where the author rebuilt his horns. I started to do this on a long-gone 1966 but couldn't figure out how to make the new rivets look like the original. I wound up using a junk yard donor set. My only question is, if the horns work, why not leave them assembled, block/tape off the contact point and stuff a rag deep down the horn and paint?

Interestingly enough, that's exactly what I ended up doing. When I first removed the horn this morning, before I did any cleaning to it, I thought the halves of the horn were held together by machine screws. After I cleaned off the accumulated dust/dirt/debris and saw that they were riveted together, my plans changed, and I went with a clean-and-repaint. All good now.
