I am familiar with the D-635 GM #1119515. I was going through some of my NOS parts and found a #1119512 dated 3D. Is this also a D-635? I guess the date is April 1963, is that correct?

Yes, the D in 3D is April 1963. The 515 was not used in the 1963 Corvette, only the 512. The 515 was used elsewhere and used in the 1964 Corvette.

I would say that your NOS 1119515 regulator dated "3D" is for April 1973. My 1963 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1962) does not list GM # 1119515 in Gr. 2.500. GM # 1119515 first appears in my 1964 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1963) for 1964 Chevrolet models including the 1964 Corvette. In my collection I have a very nice 1119515 Delco-Remy regulator that I took off a salvage yard Chevrolet dated "2J" (Sept. 1972). The 1/4" hex screws on it do not have a slot for a flat head screw drive. The used 1119515 regulator that I took off an "early" 1969 Chevrolet is dated "8K" (Oct. 1968) and has 1/4" hex screws with the slot for a flat head screwdriver. I have other used 1119515 regulators with the 1/4" hex screws with the slot for a flat head screw driver dated "4M" (Dec. 1964), "8C" (Mar. 1968), and "6B" (Feb. 1966) from my 1966 Corvette made in Feb. 1966. I believe that 1972 was the last model year that the 1119515 regulator was installed on the assembly line.

David's probably correct indicating the 3D is April 1973. They were building the 515's in 1963 for the 1964 line. Just not sure when they started making them.
