Question on the wiper transmission arms on 69

    Guys,

I'm sorting out the electrical/vacuum/mechanical issues on the wipers on my 69 restoration. Currently I'm trying to figure out why the wiper transmission arm doesn't contact and compress the wiper door interlock switch. See attached pics. The wiper motor appears to be going into the proper park mode, and the LH wiper arm is fully retracted. I've looked at the AIM and theredoesn't appear to be anything missing from my wiper arm system. Am I missing something?

    Michael,

I'm not an expert on wiper linkage, but below are a couple of photos from my car for comparison. The lever (stamped C5) on your car does not appear to be going down far enough to depress the interlock switch when the system is parked. On my car, note how the lever is level across the switch.

The rod that engages this lever can be adjusted using the slotted holes on the other end of the rod. Your photo suggests there's a lot of adjustment available to shorten it, which may help (it looks like it's currently adjusted at maximum length).

Thanks Mark. After adjusting the rod it wasn't even close to depressing the switch. I took the rod out and curved it a little and it was perfect for bringing the wiper down to the right spot but my C5 arm still wasn't lining up with the interlock switch. It is right at the very front of the switch and misses it when the the wipers park so I welded a small tab on the back of the C5 arm it to make sure it catches the switch when the wipers park. It's under the C5 arm and can't be seen when installed. Problem solved. Thanks for your help.
