After trying to start my 57 fuelie and failing, I decided to check it for fuel. It ran fine the last time I drove it and then I parked it in the garage. The next time I wanted to drive it, it would not start, even after cranking it more than I ever had to in the past. I removed the fuel line at the filter and put it into a container. I then cranked the engine over again but no fuel whatsoever. I then removed the fuel pump figuring that it had to be the problem. Getting it on the bench, I took it apart expecting to find a ruptured diaphragm or something obvious. The inside of the pump and all the rubber parts were pristine. Now What? I figured I would send it out for a rebuild, but who? Arthur Gould and others want to bead blast and even paint but that isn't going to happen. I could not see any reason why the pump failed until I noticed that the middle plate of the actuating arm, the one that attaches to the stem of the diaphragm, was broken and was not moving the diaphragm. It was very hard to see. I had to use a magnifying glass to discover it. I could fix it myself using parts from my parts bin but I may still want to send it out. This is just a long winded way of asking if anybody has a good source for fuel pump rebuilders. Perry
