Folks, I, need some input again. I am upgrading a 1957 Venitian Red tu-tone Shoreline Beige car. I am to the point of final color. Has anyone out there recently finished a car in these colors and determined a modern paint formula to match the original. I have the original paint codes, Valspar, PPg, Dupont, from previous postings but my local paint suppliers do not seem able to get it right. My car has several areas under trim, Vin # plate, etc where I have access to the original unfaded color. The paint samples the suppliers have tried are nor correct. The car has been repainted but it is not correct either. I am planning on shooting acrylic enamel or acrylic urethane possibly with clear coat over the top. I am going to work the paint down to somewhat replicate the original lacquer finish. I do not want a high gloss resto-mod look. I thank you in advance for any and all leads. John

John,
Best advice is to contact Tom Ames. Tom's the NCRS paint guy. You can find his contact information on the website contact page or send him an email from the Member's List.

I "third" the suggestion. I, too, am in the final paint stage and have been communicating with Tom via email. He is extremely helpful and very quick to respond. His contact info is shown inside the cover of the Restorer mag. John Ballard has also been very helpful.
