C1 seat storage compartment

The storage compartment between the seats, C1 / '61. Is it painted inside? Anything else in there from factory assembly?

It is painted body color. Nothing else specifically, unless you put owners manual packet and hardtop wrench there.

This is a good area to determine the original body color. If there is overspray in the upper parts and internal top of the compartment, it is most likely the factory coating and body color. If there is full coverage, it is not the factory coating. That does not mean it is not the original color.

Thanks Joseph, so just a little color inside near the top, I see the overspray. The rest looks pretty drab in there, just original flat fiberglass?

The new Judging guide has a section on the package compartment " The inner and outersides of the door were painted with the body using lacquer exterior color" No mention of inside paint. It also goes on to say that inside contents could be Owner envelope and hard top wrench. Hope this helps.
