Best Quality Throw Out Bearing, Clutch & Pressure Plate for M21 mated to L36?

The throw-out bearing in my M21 needs replacing. Any recommendations for a high quality throw out bearing, clutch and pressure plate would be appreciated. I've searched the archives, but haven't come up with much. Thanks

It doesn't discuss throw-out bearings. I'm looking forward to what the experts on this forum recommend.

I'm not an expert but take a look at LUK they sell a complete package.

If you want as close to stock performance and fitment, I recommend going with a LUK clutch. In your case, this would be a LUK #04021. This is a kit which contains pressure plate, friction disc, and release bearing. However, if it were me, I would obtain and use release bearing GM #19245400 aka ACDelco CT24KVAL. This is an OEM quality release bearing. You may find that it's made in China but the fact remains that this is an OEM quality release bearing, not aftermarket quality.

Don’t use the sindered iron pilot bearing, that’s what I have seen in the Luk kits. National makes a Oilite bearing. Hope I spelled that right.

I second what Ed said about the pilot bushing. If it is sindered iron it will wear out. You can tell if it is iron as it will be magnetic and will suck right up to a magnet.

How about an OEM GM Clutch Kit? The AC Delco Part number for the 11" kit is 381258. It has an all steel throwout bearing. The National Sintered Pilot Bushing part number is PB-656-HD.

This is not an OEM clutch. It's an ACDelco aftermarket clutch. I believe it's either a LUK or Sachs clutch in an ACDelco box. However, it's equivalent to the LUK clutch I previously mentioned and can be used without reservation.

Gentlemen- Just asking- I'm pretty sure my L36 (427/390) has an 11" disc, (168 tooth flywheel) clutch. The aforementioned Luk kit 04-021 I think is 10.5" disc. Is there another part number? Or am I confused?

All 1966-74 Corvette big block used an 11" clutch except L-88, MA-6, and LS-6.

I erred above in saying that the correct LUK clutch is an 04-021. I hope no one purchased a clutch for an 11" application based on my error. The correct LUK clutch is an 04-049

I can guarantee you it has an 11" clutch because I am the original owner of an original 1969 350/300.

Actually, all 1969-81 Corvette small blocks except 1970-72 ZR-1 used an 11" clutch.
