How to remove the antenna from my 1963 split-window coupe.

Hi all,

How do I remove the antenna from my 1963 split-window coupe. I have the shop manual, but I could use some experiences from other members.

Larry, to remove the antenna i would try dropping down the drivers muffler and pipe if one piece. that should give you room to reach up. the antenna lead is another hole ball game, not sure if that's what your referring to.

Larry, When my 63 was restored I had bought a new supposedly correct antenna from Chevy.
Turns out it was an SR and higher than most CB antennas.
So I bought a NOS correct one and was told one had to drop the muffler.
With the help of a friend with skinny long fingers we were able to remove the long antenna and install the correct one without touching the muffler. John
