non releasing hood latch on 67

cannot open hood after numerous attempts, pushing down on hood, pushing sideways on hood in both direction, pulling corners up, all while pulling hood release. Any suggestions from above attempts or below????? Passenger corner does release, not driver side.

Most likely dropped a barrel nut. You don't state if you have A/C or not but this PDF should answer all your questions. I've used it and it works perfectly...and, mine is an A/C car. Thanks to Dave Zuberer!!

If you have long arms sometimes you can reach the latch from under the car on the drivers side.

I have long arms, but I needed a long screwdriver. This was after I removed the splash shield. This just happened two days ago, and it was also a '67. Thank goodness it was not an "air car".

Look for one of these. There are tiny and slip over the wire you pull from the cockpit. If yours is lost, send me an email.

Once you get it open and if you find the little clamp device install it on the wire cable. Once it's secured then bend the wire end 90 degrees so if it ever comes loose again it won't slide off.

The good news is that with some persistence and creativity, you can eventually get the latch released by coming in from under the car. The Zuberer article reference above shows the basic approach.

On my '67 with factory air, I was able to insert a straight rod from underneath and have it come up behind the lever. I think the reason that Zuberer says he could not do this is that his C2 had the 63-66 C2 with factory air had the STV valve in the way, while the '67 factory factory air was reconfigured to use a POA valve.

Since the A/C on your car is aftermarket, the configuration will be different from any of the C2 factory designs. However, I think most aftermarket systems actually occupy less space in on the front of the firewall.

In any event, the photos below show an access path for a '67 factory air car. Maybe this will give you some ideas for a possible path on your car.

Dave wrote that article after I had initially inquired on this forum and the CF as to how to open the hood on my '67 factory A/C car (passenger side would not release). After talking to Dave on the phone, he came up with the brilliant solution that you see in the article I posed above. Dave went above and beyond in helping me by first figuring out what might work and then physically creating the solution and trying it on his own A/C car before sending me the information. He asked me to try it on my car. When I did and it worked so well, Dave said he was going to write the article to help C2 owners who encountered the same situation down the road. Just so everyone knows the history and viability of this method.
