Did you check with John DeGregory (NCRS F.I. Advisor)? His contact info is in the front of the Restorer. Good luck, Don H.

          Re: 1959 Fuelie

For my 63 FI car I bought the NOS baseplate to head gaskets from Jimmy Greg. Albeit was quite a while ago.
I have one extra set but not available.
I heard rumors that the end rubbers with the GM logo are being made friends. Is this true? And if so who sells them. Thanks, JD

            John

The issue with the end gaskets is "GM" logo and license fee from GM. If someone is making them with out OK from GM and get caught --- OUCH. Side gaskets are being made, although the ones I have seen are laser cut FelPro gaskets and have a raised line where the "thumb" is. If someone is doing the end gaskets I would like to see one for comparison as there were probably 10 varieties of GM logos and configurations used.

agree with John-boy and jimmy-boy. not only are the rubber end seals not being repo'd and rare, I believe the plenum to base plate repo gaskets are a lighter color than original 63-65 plenum to base plate gaskets. what ya think John-boy? mike

Doc, Use some good black shoe polish on the plenum leg gaskets.
Jimmy, No one ever said what logo is correct on the end logos.
So when I had a choice I picked the logo with the largests GM on it as most of the judges like Dr. Mike are pushing 90 and cant see good. Is this the way to go. hahahahaha

Since I spray silver paint all along the base plate, gasket color doesn't really matter. Just sayin

I painted my valleys silver too based on John's wise advise and the numerous stories and some pictorial evidence I saw here on the TDB. How come this didn't make it into the new judging guides? I have trouble explaining why I got my beautiful FI intake manifold "reskinned" only to proceed to purposely get silver overspray on it

BTW JDG here are pics of my FI unit I rebuilt with your sage advise. Forever in your debt.

Ian, Very proud of you my friend. Fuel injection and engine gorgeous. Nice that you sprayed the exhaust manifolds orange also. Few seem to do that today.
In the old days we used to think that the seamed water outlet was only for late '57 and '58.
Then Dale Pearman proved us incorrect. GM used 2 or 3 variations of top water outlets from '59 to '62. Yours is correct. Thanks for the photos. John D
