I need a hood adjustment procedure

I'm chasing my tail on getting my 69 hood and latches adjusted. Is there a procedure and in what order for adjusting the location of the latches, the correct hole for the cross hood cable length, how much height for the spring on each latch? I've moved some many things so many times that I am way off and need a starting point. I saw that Willcox Corvette sells a tool for this. Is it worth getting?

For the cable length, looking at the mechanism with the hood open, just select the hole that a) completely releases the right latch at rest (closed position), and b) adequately opens the right latch when the left latch is manually pushed open.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have a go at it again on Saturday. Is there a dimension/procedure of how much to adjust the height of the seat/spring on the male side?
