Suggestions on type of Paint for 56

Hi all, I am restoring my 56 as close as possible to original, but when it comes to the painting I want to use a modern paint but what looks the closest to original look. What are some recommendations for paint, pros and cons of the different types.

About any of the major brand single stage paints can be made to look like lacquer, BUT it takes a very skilled painter to make it so. We did several single stage and two stage paint restorations that passed muster. A couple took two men two weeks, after it was painted, to finish the finish. You will have a hard time getting the waves in the body to look right. There are a lot of little tricks that the skilled people use, but be ready to mortgage your house, wife, and first born to pay for the work.

The paint and body work can end up being a major portion of the cost of a restoration.

I sprayed my 63 with lacquer. Cost $800. Easy to make it look as crappy as the factory. I think its better if you are an beginner rather than a professional. Car didn't really need any bodywork.
