Were anti rattle hood bumpers OEM installed on 1972 LT1's ? I have a colleague with a 72 LT1 (very close production #) that has 4 hood bumpers. I have also seen other 72 LT 1 cars with none. Please advise.

Hi Ron, thanks for your input. A little history the photo of the hood bumpers is on a friend of mine's matching # LT1 convertible w/ac. He bought is from the original owner. It appears to be a unmolested survivor. From all observation the car is virtually untouched original. Perhaps the original owner added the hood bumpers for some reason......Fred Hickey

Maybe added at some point to reduce hood flutter or make the hood alignment more flush?Mark Edmondson

The first reference I find for the bumper to which you refer is the '74 AIM. There is no reference to in it in '73 and earlier AIM's. As you can see from the photo below, item #7 is clarified in note "Z" which states that it is used for alignment of hood and fender in order to achieve a flush hood to fender alignment.
