C3 Centering steering wheel

I've owned my '69 390 hp for 44 years. I have never been able to center the steering wheel, steering box and, tie rods. I have "remedied" the problem by adjusting the tie rods according but that causes the box to sit off centered; in my case, 1 1/4 turns to the right and 1 3/4 turns to the left. Any suggestions?

Dan the alignment machine can do that easily. Doing bye eye is tough. The last thing you want is the tires wearing a funny pattern..if you had the steering box replaced and did not get the hash Mark on shaft at 12:00 wheels pointing straight ahead that maybe give you some extra play in box, centering the steering coupling and hash Mark on box are important. It’s in the SM.
