New question on an old topic. I have a 71 and I am changing the fiber optic lenses in the front parking/signal lights.
My lights have the lenses just poking out of the grommet. I have seen others where the lenses are pushed into the light cavity about a half inch or so, closer to the bulb...presumably to get better illumination.
I have a two part question. What is the correct location of the lenses, and is placing them further into the cavity and closer to the bulb increasing the brightness in the interior? With the headlights there is a seal placed between the socket and the nipple of the lamp to concentrate the light on the fiber optic. So, in this case, does pushing the lenses further in allow the light to escape on the sides of the lenses or does it help by being closer to the bulb? I obviously have extra time on my hands, but enjoy my time in the garage.
Thanks Ken
