    1970 Corvette 454

Does the speedometer cable route over the top of the two support bars or between the two bars?
    I appreciate your inut.

I don't have a specific answer for you, but the dash wire harness is routed differently for early and late 1970. I wouldn't be surprised if the speedo cable is as well. Now don't ask me the change point, because we don't know yet. Or maybe better said: I don't know.

Your best answer will come from someone with a 1970 built reasonably close to yours.

      Terry,
Does either version provide any advantage to the installer?
I'm preparing an order from M&H.

I have no personal experience to share with you. Hopefully someone with direct experience will come forward.

I do remember John Hinckley sharing that the factory warmed the wire harness, using heat lamps, to make it more flexible before installation. At this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere setting the harness out in the sun, especially on an asphalt driveway, should do the trick. Use care in other seasons with other methods.

Not direct answer to your question, but with the LH Dash Panel out of the car, I first remove the tach and speedo assemblies from the LH Dash pad, then temporarily install the LH Dash. Next, I reach through the tach and speedo holes where the tach/speedo used to be and move the wire harness/vacuum lines around to make room for the tach and speedo drive cables. It's necessary to use a little imagination at this stage to move the wire harnesses/vacuum lines around so they don't interfere with the tach/speedo housing canisters when you next install the completely configured LH Dash Panel.
