    1961 Tach Drive

Years back when I restored my 1961 the tach did not work. I put a new tach cable in from Paragon. I also had all the gauges restored. The tach still did not work. 2 weeks ago I am back to addressing this problem. First bought a new cable from Paragon, installed it same problem. The tach does move when twisting the inner cable by hand a generator end . The problem is that the inner cable is 3/8" from getting into the crimp in the tube that the fiber gear is on. I do not know if the crimp is to far back on the shaft. I do not what to buy a tach repair kit, that will have a new shaft in it. Right now the crimp is about a 1/4" back on the shaft. Is there a way to correct this problem ? Thank You so much Fred

    Re: 1961 Tach Drive

All I can say is that I went through 3 repro tach cables on my 61, they were either too long and binding or just crappy in general. Bought an original from Fuelie Dave (no longer in business) and that fixed me up...
