    1970 Door Jamb Blackout

How much of the area between the weatherstripping and door panel is painted black?

I am going to assUme your photo is of the upper front of the door. It shows up in the wrong orientation on my computer, but it is late in the day and I may be seeing unusual things.

The answer, based on my above assUmption, is all of it. The black is under the weatherstrip (painted before the weather strip is installed) and the black extends under the door panel. The black was applied before the door panel was installed.

    Nice color by the way.

There is a picture in my photos (link below) of the door jamb that may help.

How far down does the blackout go? Past the panel retaining clip? Looking at Patrick's car (btw- I've looked through these photos several times over the years and really enjoy them), I couldn't clearly see where the blackout ends. One photo suggests the black over-spray gradually diminishes as it goes down the door.

Maybe have the over-spray transition from black to green as it approaches the panel clip?

Terry- I've finally mastered how to add and size photos, but I haven't figured out how to rotate them. :-)

My early 71 (4019, Dec 70) 2 star car (exterior was one of the stars I was told) shows heavy black out fading to red (body color) just shy of the strip. The blackout goes all the way down the door on my car. I am showing you the passenger door.

Mark - If helpful, mine is similar to William's. War Bonnet with black standard interior. Two pics, both from the passenger side. Upper 2/3 and then lower 1/3 of the door panel. In the lower pic, you can see the blackout cuts back further away from the weatherstrip -- little to no overspray at the bottom. Disclaimer: car has not been judged.
