    1972 emissions canister hose routing

Hi - trying to restore the emissions canister hose routing for my LS5. The Chevrolet service manual shows on page 8-19, Figure 33A, two different options for the LS5. One of the figures references a ZL2 option.

What is ZL2? I can't find it anywhere.

Also looking through the AIM, and I'm not even sure that the hose routing is shown for the LS5. Can someone point me to the correct figure?

Also, does anyone have a more detailed diagram of the connections to the carb? The service manual and AIM aren't very detailed.

    Thanks!
    Randy

Yeah, that's the trouble with ZL2s.

Watching for replies because I'm also in the same routing boat.

I'm finding some references out there to an air-induction hood. Not sure what engine this was supposed to go to, but I guess this could certainly change the routing requirements in the space between the hood and the intake manifold. The drawing I referenced looks like it's connected the same way - only the PCV fitting looks different.

Still hoping for a better drawing/picture with the carburetor connections labeled... Anyone??

      Thanks

I can't help with the hose routing, but it looks like ZL-2 was the option code used for cowl induction hoods on Camaros and Chevelles in the 1969 to 1971 era. Since it's referenced in the AIM, perhaps it was under early consideration for the Corvette LS5 at one time, but never made it into production.

The judging manual shows a few pics of the "carb" and "PCV" hoses coming up from the canister at about mid-valve cover. The two lines appear to lie on the cover and be taped together right around the PCV valve. Below is a simple diagram from Dr. Rebuild's old catalog. What happens to the carb is pretty straight forward, I'm curious about how the lines go from the canister to the valve cover area... as in are they secured under any clips or ties?
