    AC heater shutoff valve

My 66 has factory AC. I just noticed that there should be a "heater shutoff valve" installed as part of the AC system. I know that it will be put in line with one of the heater hoses. It would be very helpful if someone had pictures of this installed in there vette.
    Thanks

    Mel:

    Your AIM has photos.

Basically this valve installs in the 5/8 inch hose about 3 inches from the heater inlet connection and the firewall. Original valves are very hard to find, but there is a metal bracket that mounts to the firewall that then holds the original valve. Reproduction valves do often not have the capability to use this bracket because of their shape.

LICS and Zip and CC should have the bracket and screw and valve attachment clip.

In general.........again for original valves........the vacuum hose connection on the valve points down. And the valve is about 3 inches from the firewall. And it should be also held in position by a metal clip.

Installing this valve will make a marked improvement in AC cooling.

Thanks - I sent the post BEFORE I looked in the AIM. I ordered the valve and accessories from LICS today

        Mel ,

I tried to get a good pic , but once installed with everything it's preety hard to get a clear shot .

Here are the AIM sheets Larry spoke of, that and the pictures from LIC should do it for you .

Those are NOT NOS valves! If you see a picture of an original you will see a big difference. The bracket and the clip is design to work with an original valve. The service replacement valve is just that, just to function only.
