    convertible interior quarter panels

Can I get some detailed pictures of the bottom of convertible rear quarter panels installed .

I see where the JG says the bottom screw/bolt is obscured by the carpet so I assume the carpet goes over the bottom of the panel , but is the carpet then trimmed , glued , screwed to the panel like some Coupe panel pictures I have seen , or just left flapping in the breeze ?

I searched for an hour on the archives and only found one vert pic and the panels where over the carpet. On the coupe pics, or at least I think it's a Coupe , it shows a second screw attaching the carpet to it . I have no second hole in my panels.

    Thanks ,

    Re: convertible interior quarter panels

Jim, The 64 interior is incorrect, so do not copy that. The subject area changed over time and coupe and convertible models were different.
The panels did have a screw at bottom (I think different years even had different screws?) Attached a poor photo of a 64, note carpet was glued onto the bottom (63 did same thing). Later (65 or ?) a screw was used through the carpet since glue did not hold - remember the panel was removed when soft top was removed (usually in winter when hard top was put on)
Some information can be found at sec 1 B28.00 for 63 and sec 1 C20.00 for 64 - note the screw change for 63/64 however these are for a coupe.

Remember a judge will be unable to see the bottom screw when the added screw through the carpet is used.

And yes the correct information is someplace but can not remember where I finally found it, went through same exercise for my 64.

      Hi Alan

      Thanks for the picture.

I assumed that the tan 64 picture showed the wrong way of doing it based on the JG description , but I wanted to make sure ... Quote
{Later (65 or ?) a screw was used through the carpet since glue did not hold } unquote . That pretty much describes the second blue picture . I liked that idea , however as I said, my panels show no evidence of a hole there . Mine is a 66 vert . So the extra screw was either intermittently used or only used on coupes , or only used on 67s , or .........., I have no idea which ???

I will install the panel under the carpet and wait to see if I can or should attach the carpet end with an extra screw or not .

      Jim

yes, 64 is wrong I would follow your 66 JG, the blue interior looks OK. However information still comes up so if you do not want to add a hole to panel - don't (probably not worth a point deduct) Think you're going in right direction.

As I recall it was used for convertibles and started in 65 sometime - BUT do not bet on me being correct.
Remember these panels were used from 63-67 so lots of them around.

            Thanks Al and Ed,

Ed's photos settled it . They did use them on convertibles and in 66 so i'm going for a few new holes ! Especially since it make the finished look so much nicer.
