    OFF TOPIC -Corvette Forum sold

Just visited CF. Saw a scary post of inherited solid lifter '63 that said the first thing they did was to "take care of the ticking" and ultimately resulting in a frozen motor. Went to offer a reply and got a register for an "account" request and a review of things to do and don't from "Internet Brands". Has the advertising forum been sold? To Google?

I think you are having an issue with cookies in your web browser. I've visited CF several times today and nothing seems to have changed.

      Loren

No issues with CF log in here. By chance has "history" been reset on your browser?

Loren, was just there and everything looked okay. I may still look but I will probably no longer post there. Some of the questions asked are like Corvette's for babies. That's okay as we we were all newbies in the past. What get's me is the bad/incorrect information that is posted and then the poster swears it's correct. Then you get into a PM discussion about who is right/wrong. I guess I'm done there.

"Internet Brands" has owned the CF for many years now - that's not new...

I quit posting there about a month ago (been a member there for 13 years) and told the moderators to deactivate my login. I still look over there on occasion for parts sales, etc. Some of the advice being thrown around on the CF lately is lamentable; particularly on the 63s it seems.

The car in question supposedly now has a "seized" engine as a result of a bad spec for setting the lash for the solid lifter valves and an alternator/starter install.

            Go figure...

It's an OK place for idle chatter, off topic stuff, and to post pictures of your cars. Don't expect any technical help over there.

Re: OFF TOPIC -Corvette Forum sold

Well - I have gotten loads of help over there and some bright folks contribute at times that know what they're talking about (John Hinckley, McCaugh, Sinor, Gessner and, yes, Duke) but they can get drowned out in the general melee.

Some guy had his stock '61 electrical system go out yesterday and one responder went on to discuss bulkhead connectors and alternator diode failures. It can drive you bonkers... Always makes me think of Donald Rumsfeld:

"There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know."

That's about sums it up for me..
