Correct finish for throttle cable bracket on 69 350 Rochester

    Guys,

I'm wondering what the correct finish is for the throttle cable bracket is on my 69 350 Rochester. The JG says black phos but I could swear I remember reading somewhere that is was either cad or zinc plated. I tried checking my 4th edition of the JG to see if that's where I saw but it's not in there. So is my memory faulty? Is this definitely black phos? I'm getting ready to plate it. Thanks for any help.

On my very original '69 (300 HP small block, late-July build), the bracket is definitely not black phosphate. It looks to have been cad or zinc plated originally. I think I remember seeing some photos in the judging guide where the bracket looks just like mine, and I too remember wondering if the black phosphate description was possibly incorrect for some cars.

The accelerator cable bracket on my late 1969 is zinc plated as is the cable clamp.

1970 used a different bracket. It was GM #3992386.
