    1966 Carburetor to Intake Studs

Attached are 5 photos of carburetor to intake studs (5/16"-18-24) from 4 different 1966 intakes. The studs in the first 3 photos all measure 1 9/16" in length with the very top 3/32" without any threads. These studs seem to be GM # 3836527 as listed in my 1966 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs in Gr. 3.288 for 55-66 ALL, CORVETTE (8 cyl.) and described as 5/16-18-24 X 1 9/16.
The studs shown in photos #4 and #5 measure about 1 5/16" in length (fine thread L = 9/16", non-threaded part = 5/16", coarse thread L = 7/16"). These studs also have a "dimple" on the very top end as shown in photo #5. I could not find any reference to studs in my 1966, 1967, 1968, or 1969 Chevrolet parts catalog for threads of about this length.

    Photo #1 from a "3872783" SB intake dated "B 28 6" (Holley)
    Photo #2 from a "3875954" SB intake dated "E 10 6" (Rochester)
    Photo #3 from a "3872783" SB intake dated "B 4 6" (Holley)
    Photo #4 and #5 from a "3866948" BB intake dated "I 24 5" (Holley)

    I assume that the 1 9/16" long studs in photos #1, #2, and #3 are GM # 3836527.

My question: Do the original carburetor to intake studs on 1966 Corvettes with 427 engines measure about 1 5/16" and have a "dimple" on the top end?

If the studs that have the dimple are the correct length, those are the ones I would use. The judges are looking for the dimple.

      Michael,
My question is not what the judges look for but are the shorter studs with the dimples "correct" for the 427 intake? I have a few other sets of carb to intakes studs taken off of different Chevrolet & Corvette intake manifolds.
      1969 intake, cast. # "3927184" dated "G 9 8"......5/16"-18-24 X 1 5/16" without dimple
      1958 intake, cast. # 3746829" dated "E 28 8".......5/16"-18-24 X 1 1/2" with very slight taper at the top
      1963 intake, cast. # 3799349" dated "k 12 2".......5/16-18-24 X 1 3/4" with dimple on bottom end
