Re: OT: How times change......
I remember buying Mercury 7 astronaut stamps in school with lunch money to support the crews...(damn I'm old). The effort was a gov't sponsored sortee into uncharted realms of space with a nation captivated by it. The crews were heroes and expected to exhibit a certain machismo in other aspects of life.
Now its a business venture with moguls waiting to cash in - big difference... If the crews drive around in Tesla's and Prius's its no matter...- Top

I've ALWAYS thought the way those 1969 Corvettes received the "body blackout" was an absolute ATROCITY. I thought that in 1969 and I still feel exactly the same way.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Ha!
Our country is going from cool to dorky. Both the suits and cars. At least now we're more functional and reliable: the Tesla will suck the doors from a '69 Corvette and never requires a tune up.
The guy walking past with the Covid mask is a nice touch.
Am I the only one who thought of Dukakis in the tank after seeing the Space X suits?

Re: OT: How times change......
What a difference 50 years makes. Back then, a 1969 Corvette was not "collectable" it was just a sports car and one that many of us may have coveted but were beyond our means (or age, I was only 16). Still, Corvettes were more in keeping with the space race than a Tesla. I feel "old" too, Frank.- Top

Well, considering the "habits" of the chief designer and engineer of the modern look, not surprising, Zora smoked too, but not like this......Attached FilesBig Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

May never need a tune up , but i have been working with electric motors up to 300 HP my whole life and believe me when they are dead they are dead. it now cost's way to much to rewind a blown motor since we now get every motor from accross the border and the labor to rewind just does not pay anymore. The space X suits look like they belong in the Woody Allan movie Sleeper!!!- Top
