Interesting observation: "Delco Remy" stamp on 1966 Corvette Hood Release Bracket

I have an original hood release bracket (GM # 3820879) that I removed from a 1966 Corvette (without A.C.) many decades ago that has the name "Delco Remy" (with "MADE IN USA" in very small letters in-between the name) that is stamped on the bracket part between the 2 mounting bolt holes. I always thought that Delco Remy just made electronic parts.

Yes, Delco-Remy almost exclusively manufactured electrical parts. However, that division of GM also had its own internal metal stamping operations, primarily to manufacture stamped metal parts of electrical components. Apparently, the division bid on and received the contract to supply this bracket using their metal stamping facilities. It is quite unusual, though. At least, it's unusual to see a non-electrical related part with the Delco-Remy stamping. It's possible they made other such stamped parts, possibly many, without branding.
